Hello, Grüezi, Bonjour, Ciao, and Allegra!
This is Me, Myself & I - it’s a pleasure to introduce myself. My name is Annemarie. You might recognize me at WISF events as «the lady with the hat» —a title I’ve come to embrace!
I’m genuinely thankful to the LinkedIn algorithm for playing matchmaker; it was a shared event invitation that first introduced me to the wonderful WISF community. Now, as a proud and active member, I’m delighted to support WISF by documenting our inspiring events. What inspires me about WISF: Each event is an uplifting experience, thanks to our charismatic organizers, inspiring speakers, amazing members, and highly engaged participants.
Deep Roots: My Beginnings
Born and raised on a Bavarian farm, writing and learning languages opened a window to the wider world for me. Growing up in a Bavarian village, I set my sights on studying world languages. German, my mother tongue, has been my foundation and inspiration for pursuing Linguistics and Literature, especially in teaching German as a Foreign Language. Today, I speak English with native proficiency, am fluent in French and Russian, and have a strong command of Italian and Spanish.
Strong Wings: My Academic Journey
I earned my Magistra Artium in German Studies, Journalism, and Eastern European Sciences from the Universität Leipzig. I then pursued a data-driven Master of Arts in Political Science at Binghamton University, State University of New York, focusing my research on the resolution of civil conflicts within a year.
Inspired by an internship in Global Communications at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, I went on to complete my PhD in the United States. My dissertation, «What’s Next Beyond the Text? To the World It May Concern. A Cyber Narratology of Global News», explored the field of global narratology. My research investigates why certain narratives achieve widespread global distribution, while other, equally important, global human rights issues receive less attention.
Telling Stories, Sparking Change at WISF
As a dedicated networker, I thrive in international, multilingual environments. Over the past decades, my career in Germany, the UK, and Switzerland - and my academic journey as a global narratology researcher and university instructor - have enabled me to develop advanced skills in global content creation for both internal and external audiences. I bring to the WISF world a diverse set of strengths:
✨ Global communicator and engaging storyteller
✨ Skilled writer and meticulous editor
✨ Observant photographer and data-driven strategist
✨ Dynamic presenter and empathetic networker
✨ Resourceful event organizer for both large-scale conferences and personalized tutorials, especially in the context of the German language
I am genuinely passionate about exploring new horizons and turning ideas into reality, while remaining grounded and people-focused. I enjoy listening to experts, translating their insights, and transforming visions into compelling content and meaningful discussions.
Looking Ahead: Growing Together
Looking ahead, I am excited to witness and contribute to the growth of WISF. I am eager to offer my multichannel and multilingual communication expertise in support of your mission and vision. I look forward to covering your events, engaging with your experts, and getting to know the WISF community.
My impetus: «Was die Welt zusammenhält.»
I have grown deep roots and strong wings: enabling me to work with, serve, and inspire people from all backgrounds in international and interdisciplinary settings, both globally and locally.

My academic and professional journey has taken me through the exploration of world literature, global communications, the influence of information on human rights, as well as longevity, sustainability, and financial literacy.
Volunteer work is my way of giving back to the world and the global community. I’ve contributed as an intern at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (read my blog here), and as a FIFA photo volunteer, where I created a commemorative photo DVD. For the global vocational competition WorldSkills, I designed the training program and organized all guest tours. I was also honoured to attend the Institute for World Literature at Harvard University, held in Istanbul, where I contributed to a photo gallery.
Are you interested in world literature? You might enjoy my German translation of Prof. David Damrosch’s virtual book tour, «Around the World in 80 Books.» I am passionate about harnessing technology and mastering AI tools to serve humanity and enhance our collective impact.
